“What really excites me about my sector work are the outcomes that can be achieved by strategic targeted initiatives, and the ability to serve individuals that has daunting challenges, no wages or declining wages and dwindling upward mobility. In addition, the opportunity to create change, and assist in the development of new approaches to workforce development. Most importantly, help reach our ultimate goal moving our families to self-sufficiency.”

Organizational Mission: UMOS, a non-profit, advocacy organization, provides programs and services which improve the employment, educational, health and housing opportunities of under-served populations. UMOS has been in operation 44 years.

Interest in Sector Work: UMOS has developed healthcare sector initiatives with approaches created to assist individuals in obtaining sustainable, education based, training programs and healthcare careers. UMOS provides sector strategies that are tailored for low- income and unemployed individuals that can benefit from sector initiatives.

UMOS has partnered with healthcare organizations, training/ educational institutions, community based organizations, and employers, to move individuals into meaningful healthcare positions that are tailored for population served.

As employment opportunities for low-wage earners and unemployed become less available, it is clear that UMOS will need to continue learning and develop new strategic workforce initiatives.
